New Parking Policy goes in effect Monday, January 7, 2008
Starting Monday, January 7, South Shore Hospital medical staff
members will park in the
65 Columbian Lot, in lieu of parking in the lot at the corner of Route 18
and Columbian Street.
The 65 Columbian Lot is just 200 yards away from where you have traditionally parked. It continues to provide you with convenient access to the hospital's Columbian Street entrance. If the 65 Columbian Lot is full when you arrive to park, you may may park in the Cameo Lot or use the free valet parking service at the South Entrance. Medical staff members must have a remote-control device to open
the gate to the
65 Columbian Lot. Devices will be distributed to medical staff members as
they park in
the lot during January. You may also obtain a device by calling our Security
and Public Safety office at
The Physician Lot at the corner of Route 18 and Columbian Street will permanently close on Sunday, January 6, to construct our Outpatient Cancer Center and its adjacent parking garage.
Our Security team will closely monitor the impact of this new parking policy on you and your medical staff colleagues, in the event that future adjustments to the policy are needed. The map below is an overview of the South Shore Hospital campus. Medical staff members are encouraged to park in designated areas.
Medical Staff lot
Medical Staff parking is located in the lot at 65 Columbian Street. All cars must be registered with the Hospital. Your remote-control device, issued by security and public safety, will open the gate. All questions about parking may be directed to the Security Office at 781-624-8288.
Main Lot
The Main lot is ideal for patients and visitors with disabilities or injuries who would like to park near the hospital's Main entrance. This lot has handicapped spaces and reserved spaces for patients enrolled in our cardiac and outpatient rehabilitation programs.
Fogg Lot
The Fogg lot may be used by any patient or visitor and is in close proximity to our Main and South entrances.
Cameo and South Lots
The Cameo and South lots may be used by any patient or visitor and are in close proximity to our Emergency and South entrances. Medical staff may park in the Cameo lot when the 65 Columbian Street lot is full.
Columbian Lot
The Columbian lot is exclusively for those who need handicapped parking and for patients enrolled in our cardiac and outpatient rehabilitation programs.
Handicapped Parking
Handicapped parking is available in the hospital's Main, Columbian and Fogg lots.
Assisted Parking
For those who need assistance parking their cars, complimentary valet parking is available weekdays from noon-9 p.m. at the South entrance. Medical staff may utilize this service when the 65 Columbian Street lot is full.
